I got to check out the MassArt Low-Res MFA Exhibition last week. It was noticeably installation-heavy. My favorite pieces were by Brack Morrow.
Brack Morrow's work revolved around an interactive sculpture, a spaceship/camper called EAR1 Command Module (2013) with several adjoining works built from primarily reconstructed musical instruments (pictured to the left). These works interested me the most- the instruments are played by the environments in which they are placed. Inside the EAR1 Command Module, the artist is able to record the sounds created by envrionmental factors such as the wind and other noises. These musical devices appear to be several things are once- instruments, devices created by NASA to investigate lunar surfaces, music mobiles.
