Just found out that my work will be featured in a group show at Atlantic Wharf Gallery in the Financial District/Fort Point, titled "Big Picture." Its a Fort Point Arts Community (FPAC) members show that takes place in conjunction with the Fall Open Studios Group Show at the FPAC Gallery. The curator of the exhibition was Randi Hopkins, Associate Director of Visual Arts at the Boston Center for the Arts. Come by the opening reception in November (date TBD; check this page for updates).
Putting up my newest piece at Uforge Gallery, in their upcoming show "Unknown," on view October 2nd-29th, 2014. The reception is this Thursday from 6-8pm.
The premise of the show is the idea that even if artists have a large body of work, and a range of projects, that experimentation occurs within a defined area. Uforge's open call encouraged work that didn't fit within the parameters of an artist's current practice. Basically, it gave me a reason to draw a sketch while on the toilet and paint it at larger than life, at 48"x60".
Love this reading, "Institute of Other Significant Pursuits." Helpful for those looking to sit in the questions they have and address them head on. The first page, the mind map (below), is a perfect summary of my thoughts.
Shinique Smith has a survey of work from the past decade in the Linde Wing of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, on view through March 2015. I stopped by on Saturday to see the former Museum School student's work.
Attended First Friday at SoWA. Read below for a couple of highlights from the show:
